New After School Dismissal Procedures 2013-2014

August 13, 2013

Dear Parent/Guardian of a Jones Student,
The teachers and staff from Jones Elementary are excited to begin the 2013-2014 school year. We are excited that we will have the opportunity to get to know, to work with, and to assist in the education of your child(ren).

Meet the teacher is August 22nd from 5:00-6:30 and the first day of school is Monday, August 26th. The school day at Jones is 8:00-3:00. Children will be able to enter the building in the morning at 7:20.

In an effort to keep all Jones students safe our campus dismissal procedures and the dismissal procedures for Bryan ISD have been amended. They are as follows:
Walkers and Bike Riders
Students will be dismissed through the front doors and if crossing over Palasota will do so with a crossing guard.
Bus Riders
These students will be checked off a list before boarding the bus. Bus riders will be provided a color coded bus tag which will be affixed to the student’s backpack.
Car Riders
Car tags will be issued. Anyone without a car tag will have to park, come into the building and be cleared to pick up a child per the pick up list provided by the parent. The child will be called to the office and dismissed from there.
Walk Up By Parent(s)
Parents will be provided with mirror tags as well. If someone walks up to get a student and they do not have the tag they will have to go to the office and be cleared per the parent provided pick up list to pick up the child. The child will then be called to the office and dismissed from there.

**All ride changes have to be provided in writing, email or fax. We will not accept phone calls to change rides.
**There will be no early check out—within 15 minutes of dismissal.

Two other areas where we need your help: Jones students need to be at school every day unless sick. Second, we hope you will join us in communicating to your child how important it is to read at home every day.

We want every Jones student to have a fun, safe school year where he/she will be academically successful. We appreciate your help with following the above dismissal, attendance, and reading procedures and look forward to working with you as a team this school year.

Sincerely,
Linda Montoya (Principal)
