Navarro Educator ‘One’ Among 1,000 Recognized Nationally by OfficeMax

OfficeMax, known nationally for retailing office supplies and technology, recently recognized Navarro Elementary’s Tina Palasota in their “A Day Made Better” event—awarding her with $1,000 worth of school supplies aimed at classroom enhancement.

Only 1,000 educators are recognized by OfficeMax’s “A Day Made Better” awards. Palasota, who teaches fifth grade science, is the only teacher recognized in the Brazos Valley, a fitting tribute that nods toward Bryan ISD’s informal motto “Be the One.”

The initiative was created to boost classroom environments across the country and awards hard working educators with supplies like a Kindle Fire, a new teacher chair, a digital camera and other supplies.

Nominated by Navarro Principal Hugo Ibarra, Palasota’s teamwork and collaborative skills were among the features listed as attributes that make her an especially effective educator.

“Ms. Palasota is one of the most energetic teachers at Navarro,” Ibarra said. “She has a natural ability to make content relevant and to develop relationships with students. She is a great motivator and one of the most efficient and effective teachers at our school. Throughout the year, Ms. Palasota has demonstrated genuine care towards her students and great interpersonal skills that allow her to interact with parents, students and staff members in a positive way.”

Ibarra’s nomination of Palasota also stated:
“Ms. Palasota has been a great collaborator and team member that supports her grade level team, the school's administration, and Bryan ISD. Ms. Palasota is a great asset to the BISD community and to Navarro. She is constantly learning new ways to improve her instructional practices and is determined to be a leader and lifelong learner, always seeking to grow personally and professionally.”
