Stephen F. Austin Middle School, Crockett Elementary and Jones Elementary were chosen as three of only 46 additional schools nationwide honored as Capturing Kids’ Hearts National Showcase Schools nominees for 2016-2017.
This is the same award that Johnson Elementary was nominated for and won last year. Johnson was also nominated for the award this year. As a result of the nominations, a Flippen Group site team will be visiting with each school this spring to gather data, observe classrooms and interview students, teachers, administrators and parents.
Each nominated school began incorporating the Capturing Kids’ Hearts program into its campus three years ago. Since then, each school has seen a reduction in their total discipline referrals compared to when they implemented the program.
In addition to data the Flippen Group will gather on its campus visits, it will conduct a survey to collect feedback regarding “the perceived climate and culture of the campuses and their conduciveness to learning.”
