The teachers, staff and I are very excited to see all of our Jones Panthers return to school for the 2014-2015 school year. At the end of last school year our Jones 3rd, 4th, and 5th graders took the STAAR test. Third graders took the reading and math STAAR, the 4th raders took the math, reading, and writing STAAR, and the 5th graders took the math, reading, and science STAAR. At the beginning of August (2014) we received our accountability report from the Texas Education Agency. I am so proud to share that Jones Elementary received a "Met Standard" rating as well as receiving a distinction. We made every Index and met all the standards for every safeguard.
Our teachers and staff will continue to have high expectations for every student and we will continue to push students to reach their highest potential. Our students are smart and with the right support system will continue to do great things.
We will continue to expect our students to come to school every day. Children with poor attendance often struggle academically. We will continue to strive for our attenance at Jones to be 98%. We were very very close this past school year.
We will continue to expect all students to read at home every evening. Children who enjoy reading and are able to read on grade level have a much better chance of being academically successful. There is reading involved with every content area.
Since Jones does not have a PTO I would love to have a parent Leadership committee. Let me know if you are interested in being on the parent leadership committee..
Looking forward to a fun, exciting school yearfull of great learning experiences!.
